2020 Goals
First month of 2020 has gone by too quickly. I had a rough start trying to catch up from being sick during the holiday season. To try and calm myself down, I took my first bubble bath of the year in the middle of the month. While soaking I watched Hannah Kathleen’s 2020 vision video and it just SPOKE TO ME. It was the cutest video that Hannah did with her dad giving tips on how to set your goals for the new year. They did a great job in explaining how to achieve your goals and dreams based on the person you were.
It really gave me clarity on why I was struggling with achieving my goals in the past. My issue wasn’t that my goals were untrainable, but that I wasn’t focusing on the person I already was and on where I was in my life at the moment. I really needed to break down my bigger goals into smaller goals and make sure I was growing in all aspects of my life.
ONE: Finance my life better.
It’s not that I’m terrible with money but I definitely want to be better with where my money goes. I’m at a point in my life where my money is important and I want to be smarter about it for my future. Two of my little financial goals are to pay off my student loans and save at least $10,000 by the end of the year.
The past few years I’ve been taking a lot of time to declutter things I don’t need and when shopping I remind myself to spend on investment pieces. This means I focus more on quality than quantity. I also have a few career plans for the new year and with this I want to really train myself to live with half or less than half of my paycheck. Doing this will push me to save more and to just live within my means.
TWO: Loose some weight
I opened up a little last year about my weight journey. I’ll admit, since graduating college I’ve definitely gained a few pounds. Deep down I’ve always been a bit self conscious about it. My clothes don’t fit the same, my energy level is low, and my sleep schedule is so off. I used to run often because I used to do races at Disneyland. I would be working towards a goal of crossing that finish line. I’ve tried to make the most out of my local gym but at the end of the day, I wasn’t motivated.
I know I can do better to incorporate a healthier lifestyle. I want to plan out my meals more and with the budgeting I’ll be doing with my financial goal, I’ll be more strict on myself when I’m choosing to eat out or not. I also received an airfryer for Christmas from Kenny’s mom so I’m really hoping to make the most out of that soon! In terms of exercising, I want to experiment with workout classes to find what works best for my body. To keep myself accountable, I plan to document all of this on my YouTube channel so I can share my progress with you!
THREE: Get back into learning
I graduated college about 3 years ago and since then I felt like my knowledge has been at a standstill. Looking back, I learned the most at the end of my education. My graduating classes were all about how I applied the knowledge that I learned and my professors would share their experiences in the industry. It was more relatable and I think that’s when I appreciated learning the most.
At the moment, the most “learning” that I do is listening to podcasts and watching YouTube videos about the digital marketing industry and influencer marketing. I also recently downloaded The Financial Diet on my iBooks library so I can learn how to approach my finances better. I’ve been wanting to learn more in graphic design and maybe some new Adobe programs. If you guys have some recommendations on the best ways you learn, please let me know!
FOUR: Grow across all my platforms and create MORE!
I’ve been doing this whole creative thing now for about 4 years now. I know my biggest issue is consistency. For 2020, I plan to upload at least once a week on YouTube (from now on) and post on Instagram 3 times a week. My goal is to grow to at least 5K on YouTube and Instagram. And I know I’ve been neglecting my blog. I want to practice my writing. Whether I’m recapping my month or sharing some extra information related to a video, I plan to post at least twice a month on here.
Just for the sake of putting my goals out into the universe, I really want to work on doing some bigger collaborations with my favorite brands. So far in January I’ve worked with Fresh Beauty which was an absolute dream come true. I hope that this leads to even more opportunities in the future!
I’ve been also wanting to experiment with other types of creativity too. I want to play more with my photography and modeling. I think it’ll be super helpful for my channel as well!
FIVE: Practice gratitude
If you watched my Dear 2019 video, I spoke about how the theme of last year was perspective. My eyes were really opened on how many things I took for granted. I want to live my life feeling thankful for all my blessings from having a roof over my head and food to drink, and being surrounded by my loved ones.
I don’t talk about this often but I love to journal. I’ve always switched between diaries ever since I was a little kid. It’s like my own private space to just explore my own thoughts and even understand myself better. This year, I hope to write more about the things that make me happy rather than only writing when I’m frustrated or stressed (which is quite often.)
I felt a little delayed only deciding on my 2020 goals at the end of January. But December is always hectic and really going through the motion of catching this month helped me decide what I wanted for myself this year. It was like a mental prep for what the rest of the year has in store for me.
What are your 2020 goals? Wishing you guys a great start to the New Year.
