Snow in Love
Ever since I was younger, I was never one to celebrate Valentines Day with all the hearts or fancy dinner dates. The main reason is because February 14 is my dad’s birthday. For the most part, Valentines Day was about exchanging cards and candy with my friends during the day and then celebrating with my dad at night.
Over the years obviously my dads birthday hasn’t changed, but the way I celebrate Valentines Day altogether has grown to be more casual. Kenny and I have been together for 3 years now and the most we’ve done is make a meal together. Our relationship has always been about making the little moments special.
Our first Valentines Day he told me, “I don’t need a specific holiday to show you how much I love you.” Cheesy. I know. But that always stuck with me and see it to be true. There are always times when we’re together and I catch us having a great time and we’re laughing and smiling and it plays like a slow-mo movie. That type of love is what I cherish. This happiness, this pure joy and love is what everyone deserves.
Simple reminder to all that, like Kenny said, you don’t need a specific date to show someone how much you care about them. Show at least one person everyday how much you love them.
